A quote from today's sermon:
"I attend church to bear witness that
Jesus Christ is alive, and He is to be worshipped."
Ever step out of your worldview? Ever have a flash of insight into how someone else sees reality? Every now and then, it strikes me as just how odd our faith is. I don't mean just peculiar -- I mean it's really out there. Jesus is alive? That Jewish rabble-rouser from two millennia ago -- you actually think he's still living? What kind of nut are you? Not only that -- you actually worship him? You really believe that he controls your life? Are you sure you're not just schizoid? I mean, some people think that Tu-pac is still alive, but they don't get visions from him. No wonder people think we're crazy. The message of the cross really does sound like foolishness: not just nonsense, but utter absurdity.
Have you ever met a person who
actually believes he's god? Do you remember listening to his delusions, and humoring his misguided certainty when he leaned in close to you and quietly asserted, "I control the universe"? How short a step is it to say instead, "God lives inside of me -- He talks to me"? No wonder people think we're crazy.

We ARE crazy...and I love it. To be great we must be the least...to be rich we are called to give up everything...we must be humble in order for there to be anything proud about and yet we must stay humble! We are called to die...in order to live. It is such a paradoxial way...and it is completely satisfying. Try explaining to people? I am definitely seen as crazy....I guess I just have to live it out! :O) Great post!
Nice to see you in church today...looking mighty fine in your blue shirt...
I love to tease...but maybe you have noticed that. Like I said...it just wasn't FAIR to wear that blue shirt....that goes with your blue eyes...give the girls a fightin' chance! See you Thursday night...sixish....or come earlier and help make dinner...Jordan will be here as well.
Yeah, it's crazy talk.
Didn't care for A Day Without a Mexican eh? Not the best acting/script but it makes a point.
